The wordy version.....
Barbara Bechtel is a professional mixed media artist who trained at the Savannah College of Art & Design. She works in painting, collage, assemblage, printmaking, textiles, paper arts & jewelry design. Her work uses visual narratives through combinations of words and symbols, exploring the meanings humans attach to these elements and how survival hinges on mastering our reactions to the human experience. Barbara is the owner of Soul Collective Studio, her maker studio, where she is heavily involved in each of the processes from “nose-to-tail.” She lives in the foothills of Western North Carolina with her two cats & her partner Sam, a chainsaw artist, in a tiny old house filled with lots of weird stuff & plants. Her current project is securing a future home for Soul Collective Studio so that it can grow to provide income relevant to individual artist’s unique skills to help build creativity economy through collaboration.
